Richard Kennedy joins the MWAA board

For those who say nothing gets done in Congress these days — here is news of a small action.
The Senate this week cleared the way for Richard A. Kennedy to join the board of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Kennedy, a federal appointee, becomes the 17th member of the board, which is responsible for managing two of the region’s largest airports, Dulles International and Reagan National, and construction of the $5.6 billion Silver Line rail project.
Kennedy brings with him interesting credentials — he is a nationally recognized expert in the elevator and escalator industry. He is president of the Kencor, an elevator-systems company based in West Chester, Pa. (Insert Metro elevator joke here).
According to a biography released by MWAA, Kennedy “is currently a director of the Elevator Contractor Council for the Association of Building Contractors. He was president of the National Association of Elevator Contractors from 2010 to 2011, and from 2009 to 2011 he served on its Board of Directors. Through his independent consulting company, Richard A Kennedy & Associates, he is frequently retained by states and municipalities, the legal profession, insurance companies and building owners to audit and advise on elevator and escalator service.”
Kennedy, received a bachelor of arts and science from Villanova University and a master of business administration from Widener University.
He will officially join the board in September, when MWAA resumes its monthly meetings after taking August off.
