Elevator Technician Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and/or disassemble, install, modernize, repair, or maintain electric or hydraulic freight or passenger elevators, escalators, moving sidewalks, or dumbwaiters;
- Supervise and train elevator apprentice;
- Investigate and diagnose problems related to the operation of equipment;
- Conduct preventive maintenance and inspection of equipment, ensuring conformance to safety regulations and OSHA requirements;
- Ensure safety regulations and building codes are met, completing service reports and performing annual tests of safety devices, for example;
- Evaluate equipment and propose modifications and/or new equipment installation(s);
- Test newly installed equipment;
- Requisition parts and materials required for service and repair;
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine the layout of system components, frameworks, and foundations, and to select installation equipment;
- Maintain log books, detailing all repairs and checks performed, safety trainings, and site inspections.
Elevator Technician Requirements:
- Experience with elevator, escalator, moving sidewalk, and dumbwaiter equipment, as well as the electrical components and tools used to service them.
- Critical-thinking and communication skills, applied to evaluate not only equipment and projects but also to communicate information effectively and respectfully among peers, supervisors, and clients.
- Knowledge of relevant machines and tools, computers and electronics, as well as building and construction materials and methods used in the maintenance, installation, repair, and/or modernization of elevators, escalators, moving sidewalks, and dumbwaiters.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and other industry-mandated, local, state, or national safety guidelines that promote the protection of workers, publics, and/or equipment on job sites.
- Attention to detail and active listening ability.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Customer service mindset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
This position involves frequent physical activity that requires considerable use of your arms and legs, as well as moving your whole body in actions such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping while handling materials.
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $60,000 – $92,800 annually
